The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) welcomes the WHS ministers’ decision to undertake further consultation on silica related exposure risks, particularly in relation to engineered stone.
NECA is a staunch advocate for WHS best practice and has always promoted the education, awareness and safe management of workplace risks and hazards.
NECA joins with other industry associations in calling on the government to deliver a clear and consistent approach to the hazards of uncontrolled silica dust exposure. We stand ready to work with government and WHS regulators in addressing this issue in a nationally coordinated manner, and are committed to providing the electrical and communications industries on updates to regulation, risk management and the prohibition of engineered stone.
